Auditing the Seven Hidden Assumptions
Imported management frameworks designed in Western or East Asian headquarters fail in Vietnam because they carry unexamined cultural assumptions. Middle managers must run the Localization Audit on every headquarters policy, software rollout, or corporate initiative before deployment. This audit screens the framework against seven false assumptions.
This bad news travels upward freely, that urgency can be broadcast emotionally, that empowerment is a mindset without documentation, that individual public recognition motivates, that meetings are designed for spontaneous debate, that training changes behavior without structural redesign, and that silence indicates agreement. Any imported framework that relies on these assumptions must be redesigned using localized tools—such as delegation matrices, error covenants, and leader-last meeting structures—before reaching the shop floor.
