Physical Quarantine and Edge-Case Logging Routines
When non-standard components, off-spec materials, or unvetted inventory hit the warehouse floor without clear operational instructions, frontline technicians often stash them in dark corners to avoid administrative blame. This logistical hoarding hides critical inventory bottlenecks from senior executives until a production line is forced to shut down.
Middle management must enforce a strict Physical Quarantine Protocol that bars any unmapped or disputed component from remaining on an active line for more than 120 minutes without formal logging. Disputed assets must be immediately transferred to a designated, marked holding cell, and an entry must be created in the central Edge-Case Register within the shift window. This physical separation prevents non-compliant stock from accidentally contaminating the primary production flow while triggering a mandatory, joint review between operations and quality engineering before release.
